Ceiling fans come in different sizes, shapes, and styles. If you are looking for a fan for your home, you are probably curious what types of ceiling fans are available to you. That is why we are here to briefly discuss the major ceiling fans and talk about a bit of each.
Let us start with the cast iron types. From when the fans were invented all the way to the early 1950s, the most popular would be the cast iron fans for the ceiling. The original ones were made with cast iron housing. The beauty of using this type of material for is that they are heavy duty. That is why there are still a lot of cast-iron fans from decades ago that can be seen today. One of the most common cast-iron fans are the Hunter "Original" fans which were made by Hunter Fan Company.
On the other hand, another popular type of fan for the ceiling is the stack-motor ceiling fan. These were made because of the increasing energy costs during the energy crisis in the 1970s. It was energy-efficient and therefore was preferred by more. In fact, it is the very reason why they made a comeback in the United States. The Stack-motor fans were made up of fan blades mounted to a central hub known as the flywheel. The latter is then mounted with or to the fan's motor housing.
There are many other types of fans for the ceiling such as the skeletal motors, the direct-drive, the friction-drive, and gear-drive ceiling fans among others. There were styles that were phased out easily while there are those that lasted for years.
