The evaporator fan motor on your Whirlpool refrigerator is the fan that you hear kick on when you open up your freezer door. The evaporator fan motor circulates the air to assist in maintaining a constant temperature inside the refrigerator and freezer sections or your Whirlpool refrigerator.
When you are replacing a defective or faulty evaporator fan motor, first thing that you will need to do is to disconnect the power source of the appliance. Then you should remove the evaporator panel. To do this start by taking out all of the screws that are holding it in place. Now you need to carefully take out the screws that hold the fan bracket onto the inner wall. Next, disconnect the wires that attach the evaporator fan motor, using a pair of needle-nose pliers. Now you should be able to remove the evaporator motor from the bracket and discard of it. Be sure to keep the blade, you will need it later. Next, you will need to get your new motor and reconnect the fan blade to it. Install the new evaporator motor back onto the bracket and secure the bracket back onto the inner wall. Make sure that you replace all of the screws that were removed in the beginning. Next, you should reconnect the wires to the new motor terminals. Once you have done this, your job is complete, you can now put the evaporator panel back in. The installation of your new part will be complete!
